The service and price

Past & Kin provides one automated genealogical investigation for $29 USD, with an interactive private website and 12 months of hosting. Any applicable tax must be disclosed at checkout. There is no automatic recurring subscription. The service targets five ancestral generations across all four grandparent branches, with partial results possible.

Eligibility and your information

You must be at least 18 and live in the United States. You must have permission to provide the information you submit. A standard order begins with a record-access check; eligibility is based on accessible information, not race or ethnicity. A successful check does not guarantee later discoveries. Do not use the service for locating private living people, legal proof, immigration or citizenship applications, medical decisions, or determining tribal membership.

What is and is not promised

We provide a bounded automated research effort, traceable sources, visible uncertainties and a personalized website. We do not promise a complete tree, a particular number of ancestors, European or other international origins, a genetic result, or a particular discovery. Paid archive orders, in-person research, contacting relatives and DNA analysis are excluded. AI can make errors; source links and evidence labels help you evaluate results.

Automatic refunds

If the paid research establishes no new source-supported ancestral relationship beyond the family information you supplied, we request a full refund to the original payment method. A research failure that prevents a usable deliverable also qualifies. A requested or pending refund is not a completed refund; the payment provider determines processing time. Known gaps alone do not qualify if the defined research produced supported new relationships.

Gifts

A gift purchase provides one redemption link. The recipient must meet the same eligibility and consent requirements, and they control the resulting atlas. The purchaser can cancel an unredeemed gift and request its full refund from their account. If the recipient’s research qualifies for an automatic refund, it returns to the purchaser’s original payment method. No gift expiry is imposed by these terms; any required local gift-credit rules take precedence.

Delivery, hosting and exports

Research timing is being measured; no guaranteed completion deadline is advertised during launch preparation. Progress is stored so your browser need not remain open. The atlas includes a downloadable HTML report and structured data export. Hosting beyond the included year would require a separately agreed offer; there is no automatic renewal charge.

Sharing and corrections

Sharing is optional and revocable, but anyone with an active sharing link can view the public version. Do not publish third-party material you do not have permission to share. If you find an error, provide the source and affected person through support. A correction should not be treated as independently supported merely because it was submitted.

Contact and operator

Operator business name must be completed before launch. Support details must be completed before launch.

These terms do not waive rights or remedies that applicable consumer law does not permit us to waive. The operator must review the service’s legal, tax and privacy obligations before enabling live commerce.
